Today there is no accurate record of
the total number of verteran's
organizations, but among them all,
none has grown so large or has
execised such wide influence as The
American Legion. None is so
intimately identified with the word
"veteran".

If you are ashamed to stand by your colors, you had better seek another flag.
Government's first duty is to protect the people, not run their lives.
Ronald Reagan
The American Legion was chartered by
Congress in 1919 as a patriotic, war-time
veterans organization, devoted to mutual
helpfulness. It is a not-for-profit
community-service organization which
now numbers nearly 3 million members,
men and women, in nearly 15,000
American Legion posts worldwide.
